What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a surgically positioned titanium post into the jawbone beneath the gum line, much like our natural tooth root. This implant allows your our team at Diamond Dental to mount replacement teeth or a bridge into that area. Unlike a denture, which can be removed or replaced often, an implant doesn’t come loose. They are a more permanent solution to teeth replacements. Dental implants can also benefit general oral health, mainly because they do not have to be mounted or weigh on other teeth, like dental bridges.

Oral Care Specifics to IMPLANTS

The first thing to think of if you are considering implants is the health of your gums. This is important because it is necessary to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant. Bone grafts may be needed if your bone ends up being too thin or too soft, and it is unable to support the implant. Another consideration is that there may not be enough bone height in the upper jaw, or the sinuses are too close to the jaw. In either of these cases, you may require a sinus lift.

Despite improvements in the American dental care system, millions of people still suffer from tooth loss. This is mostly due to situations including tooth decay, periodontal disease, or injury to the mouth area. For many years, the only treatment options available for people with missing teeth were bridges and dentures. But, today, dental implants are available.
Our team at Diamond Dental will talk you through all of the unique specifics of your case, as well as explore option upfront with you before deciding on an implant route to take.

Dental Implants

Did you know that dental implants have become the best treatment option to replace missing teeth?

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved.

Dental implants are changing the way people live. With them, people are rediscovering the comfort and confidence to eat, speak, laugh and enjoy life.

Decades ago, if you had lost a tooth you would simply have to live without it, or have your remaining teeth removed to make room for a denture or bridge. Today, you can choose to have your smile restored with a dental implant.

Unlike dentures, implants do not come out. There are no worries of glues or adhesives to keep them in place and you can eat or smile all you want without worrying about whether your dentures will hold. Diamond Dental knows that you want a beautiful smile that is also as functional as your natural teeth.

Dental implants can rescue your smile no matter why it was lost. Whether you lost a tooth or multiple teeth due to gum disease, an accident, or any other reason, implants provide the perfect solution to fill that gap. Implants are permanently affixed to your jaw and gums, and can be matched to your existing teeth.

If you feel that implants can help you to overcome your smile issues, Diamond Dental is ready to consult with you and determine if this approach is the best one for you. Our staff will answer your questions and help you to choose the treatment that will best restore your natural smile. Contact our office today to schedule your complimentary consultation.

Single Tooth

Single-tooth implants is utilized for patients who are missing one or more teeth. An implant is surgically placed in an opening, Once the implant attaches to the bone, it acts as a new “root” for the crown that will replace your missing tooth. A natural looking crown (cap), is attached to the implant which occupies the area left by the missing tooth.

All on 4

Today’s modern procedures allows Dr. Collins to use a minimum number of implants to support a maximum number of teeth. That means four implants can be used to support a full arch (upper or lower jaw) of fixed, non-removable replacement teeth.

Implanted Supported Denture

An implant-supported denture is an overdenture that is supported by and attached to implants. A regular denture rests on the gums, and is not supported by implants. An implant-supported denture is used when a person doesn’t have any teeth in the jaw, but has enough bone in the jaw to support implants.
